Everything in Monster and Me is created from one of five elements, these are: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. All of the monsters you encounter in Monster and Me are one of these five elements, for example the starting pet: Toturtle is a Water Pet.

Each element restrains or promotes another element, for example... Water and Fire... Water will put out a Fire, so naturally Water monsters have an advantage over Fire Monsters. However, Water gives life to the plants and trees, so Water promotes Wood, this is called "Generate". However, Water is soaked up and absorbed by the Earth, so Earth pets are very strong against Water Pets with the great strength and absorbing power it holds over the Water. This is called "Restrain".

The diagram below will show which elements restrain and generate, it is important to learn which elements to fight against in order to be successful in Monster and Me.

Pet Growth:

In addition to its element, a pet also has a growth rate. The growth rate refers to the amount of attribute increases a pet gets per level. So naturally, a high growth is better than a low one. Working out the growth of your pet is vital, as without knowing the growth you'll never know whether the pet is worth raising or not...

One way of checking growth is to raise the pet several levels, then press the "Pet" tab at the top of the game, then selecting "Pet Growth Chart" from the drop down menu list.

There is also a formula for working out the growth of a pet:

Here is the formula: [(The produce of attack + defense + dexterity) MINUS THE [(The product of attack + defense + dexterity that your pet had at level one] DIVIDED BY (current level - 1).

Tip: If you want to raise a certain pet, for example Cindyfly. Then catch many of that pet at level 1, or obtain/buy/win as many as you can. Take note of each pet's Strength, Dexterity and Defense at level 1 and then raise them all to level 11. Make sure the pet's HEALTH is always at top condition. This is very important for increasing their growth. Never let your pet die, they will gain a great amount of mental injury which will forever damage your pet's growth rate. Once they're all at level 11, check which pet has the highest growth rate using the calculation above.

Pet Raising Tips

• Always raise a pet from level one, never attempt to raise wild pets from random levels.
• Always make sure your pet loyalty is 100.
• Never let your pet die, they'll gain mental injury which will forever damage your pet and his growth.
• Always ensure your pet has 90% HP or higher when they're about to level.
• Refrain from trading pets to people other than your spouse, if you trade a pet to your spouse it will not gain any mental injury.
